In the 2024 GOP presidential primary, former president Donald Trump conveyed his gratitude for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s endorsement. Recently, DeSantis withdrew from the race and openly supported Trump, who is still the front-runner.
“Very honored to have his endorsement,” Trump said in a Fox News Digital interview. I’m excited to collaborate with him to defeat Joe Biden, the worst and most dishonest president in our nation’s history.”
DeSantis used a video message to declare his withdrawal, pointing out that Trump was clearly preferred by Republican primary voters. DeSantis reaffirmed that Trump is better than Joe Biden, the incumbent, despite their prior disputes on topics like the coronavirus pandemic and Dr. Anthony Fauci’s role. That much is evident.”
Following Trump’s triumph in the Iowa caucuses and his current lead in New Hampshire over former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, the governor of Florida has endorsed him. According to DeSantis, “We can’t go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear – a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism – that Nikki Haley represents.”
After calling DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimonious” during the campaign, Trump announced he would stop using the moniker. According to Trump, “No, that name has been officially retired,” Fox News Digital was informed.
A major turning point in the Republican contest has occurred with DeSantis’s endorsement of Trump, which solidifies his lead over other contenders and moves the party closer to uniting behind him in the 2024 presidential contest.
