Ohio’s EAST PALESTINE neighborhood — On Wednesday, former President Trump told East Palestinians, “We’re like a third-world nation” because Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is a Democrat.
This breakdown is indicative of the fact that we are similar to a third-world country. Trump made this statement while meeting with East Palestinians at a McDonald’s on Wednesday.
Furthermore, the ex-president claimed that Buttigieg, who has never visited East Palestine, “should have been here a long time ago.”
Trump responded to Buttigieg’s accusations that he was responsible for the East Palestine train derailment by saying, “It had nothing to do with it.” Buttigieg falsely blamed Trump for the derailment by suggesting that the withdrawal of a rule on ECP brakes in 2018 contributed to the disaster.
As the 45th president continued, “I have people that are taking planes, and they’re delayed. Buttigieg really needs to look at the airports.” They’ve been sitting in an airport for three days now. What’s happening right now is absolutely insane.
On Thursday, one day after Trump’s visit to East Palestine, Buttigieg plans to go there himself. Buttigieg seemed to downplay the East Palestine train crash last week by pointing out that there are 1,000 train crashes annually.
According to the Transportation Secretary, “while this horrible situation has gotten a particularly high amount of attention, there are roughly 1,000 cases a year of a train derailing.”
Neither Buttigieg nor Vice President Joe Biden have yet made it to East Palestine. Rather than being in Washington, Biden was spotted in Ukraine earlier this week.
Trump told Reporter Media on Wednesday from East Palestine that Biden should have already visited the Ohio town but “chose to go a different route,” referring to Biden’s recent visit to Kyiv, Ukraine.
