After former President Donald Trump launched a strong verbal attack against former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie during a radio interview, Christie voiced his concern over Trump’s mental health. Trump had previously served as the President of the United States. During the course of the conversation, Trump referred to Chris Christie as a “slob,” “sloppy,” and “crazed lunatic.”
Christie, who is also seeking the candidacy for the presidency of the Republican Party in 2024, has been vocal in his criticism of both Trump’s character and his credentials to serve a second term as president. However, at one point in time, Trump and Christie were good friends, and Christie voted for Trump in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.
Christie’s response to Trump’s critique was to query how someone who was “useless, dumb, and deranged” could have played a big part in Trump’s election campaigns and debate preparations. Trump had criticized Christie earlier in the conversation.
Despite the fact that Christie has been critical of Trump, he has also voiced doubt over the allegations and indictments that Trump is facing, notably in the Manhattan hush money payments case. Christie has made the assertion that President Trump’s legal woes may be the result of political persecution.
While Trump continues to retain a big lead in the polls, Christie is now polling in sixth place among the contenders running for the GOP nomination in 2024. However, Christie feels there is still time to gain momentum in the race and has referred to favorable polling data in New Hampshire as evidence for this belief.
