Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to a video posted by an Australian TikTok user, Mia Chloe, who had expressed surprise and amusement at the abundance of American flags she encountered during her travels in the United States. In her video, Chloe playfully remarked on the prevalence of American flags adorning houses, cars, and even couch cushions.
Governor Abbott, in reaction to Chloe’s humorous commentary, took to Twitter and succinctly wrote, “Perhaps you should go back to Australia,” accompanied by a string of eight American flag emojis. Chloe, using the username @meanderwithmia, had earlier mentioned that she had rarely seen the Australian flag displayed, except for the notable sight of it on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. She jokingly added that she might be able to sketch the American flag from memory due to its frequent appearances.
Chloe continued to playfully jest about her encounters with the American flag in her videos, suggesting she could craft a sculpture out of it given how often she had come across it. She light-heartedly advocated for a more balanced use of the flag, stating, “Maybe we could scale back a bit, you know? Keep it modest.”
In her other TikTok posts, Chloe shared her experiences and opinions about the United States, including her humorous take on American supermarkets, which she referred to as a “trap.” She recounted spending an unexpectedly long four hours at a Walmart and only purchasing a mere three items.
In a different video, Chloe affectionately addressed residents of the Midwest, playfully singling out Kansas and its weather patterns as a subject of her jest. She humorously described the swiftly changing conditions, going from clear skies to sudden thunderstorms and even hail showers.
The exchange between Chloe’s light-hearted video commentary and Governor Abbott’s response sparked laughter and discussions across various social media platforms.
