The United States military has carried out a second recent strike on a vessel allegedly tied to drug trafficking out of Venezuela. President Trump announced that three individuals aboard a boat in international waters were killed when U.S. forces engaged what were described as “violent narcoterrorists” transporting cocaine and fentanyl bound for the U.S.
The operation included release of a short video showing a small boat exploding after being hit by a U.S. missile. Trump emphasized that the strike was part of a broader effort to protect national security and prevent drug flow into the country. He also warned that future operations may target land-based cartel routes as well.
Officials said no U.S. personnel were harmed in the incident. The strike follows a previous U.S. military operation two weeks earlier aimed at a different drug boat. Tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela have been mounting amid the increased naval presence in the southern Caribbean.
