A peaceful stretch of water near City Island has devolved into a nightly party zone, much to the dismay of nearby residents. Boats loaded with loud music, swimmers, and even pole dancers have turned calm summer nights into an endless bash—earning the nickname “party pirates.”
Neighbors are complaining about blaring speakers and pre-dawn chaos replacing tranquility. One such party vessel even caught fire in June, causing injuries and raising safety alarms. Authorities have reported drunk and reckless boating.
City officials are now demanding action. Council Member Kristy Marmorato is calling for stepped-up enforcement by the Harbor Unit, while the Coast Guard remains on patrol. Meanwhile, organizers of the floating festivities are pushing for designated party zones—hoping to keep the fun rolling without drowning out the peace in residential areas.
