Late Wednesday night, Christopher Brown, a 43-year-old American from Colorado, was discovered dead from numerous stab wounds in the sleepy fishing village of Castara on the island of Tobago. Before departing the group at around 10:30 p.m., according to police, Brown had supper and drinks with pals and allegedly mentioned that he was going to get marijuana.
Officers from the area found Brown laying still along Depot Road with a metal item stuck in his back shortly after. At the scene, he was declared dead. As investigators attempt to ascertain the motive behind the murder, a suspect has been placed under arrest.
Authorities confirmed the victim was a foreign national and classified the attack as a homicide. Tourism officials in the area denounced the violence, pointing out that Castara, which is renowned for its tranquil, community-focused atmosphere, had never witnessed such an event before.
In order to piece together exactly what happened, local police are still collecting witness testimony and forensic evidence in collaboration with homicide detectives.
