In a statement from the White House that went out on Tuesday, it has been announced that Vice President Kamala Harris has officially tested positive for COVID-19.

As reported by white house officials, the rapid and PCR tests for the vice president both came back positive, but as of writing no symptoms have come up. She is slated to continue her work from home.

“She has not been a close contact to the President or First Lady due to their respective recent travel schedules,” stated press secretary to the vice president,  Kirsten Allen. “She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative.”

Just recently, vice president Harris made it back from a weeklong expedition out to the West coast. According to reports, she has not had any sort of close contact with President Joe Biden or First Lady Jill Biden since her return to the nation’s capital.

Harris has previously been dosed with both the Moderna variants of the COVID-19 vaccination and its respective booster shot back in October, as reported by the Associated Press. It was also reported that she was given a second dose of booster back on the first of April.

Yesterday I received my second COVID-19 booster shot. We know that getting vaccinated is the best form of protection from this virus and boosters are critical in providing an additional level of protection. If you haven’t received your first booster—do it today.

Reportedly, Harris last had contact with Biden at the White House Easter Egg Roll on the 18th of April before making her way out to California, she returned on Monday.

This positive COVID-19 test from Harris crops up just a month in the wake of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff reporting that he also tested positive for the virus.

When I found out I had COVID, I felt so relieved knowing that @VP and I were vaccinated and boosted.

Additional COVID-19 booster shots are now available for people aged 50 and older. I encourage everyone who is eligible to get boosted. Find resources at https://t.co/uEIlQtLojj.

This recent diagnosis takes place shortly after a solid number of positive cases in the wake of one Washington dinner that included a few hundred Democratic leaders, which included  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who have since shown positive test results.

“After testing negative this week, Speaker Pelosi received a positive test result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” stated Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, via Twitter on the 7th of April.

Jacqui Heinrichs, the Fox News White House correspondent, issued a response to the news by stating, “Pelosi was on stage, unmasked with POTUS yesterday at the postal service reform act bill signing – inches away from him.”

It was also highlighted by Axios that many other top Democrats, such as including Attorney General Merrick Garland, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), have since shown positive tested for the virus due to attending the Washington Gridiron Club dinner.
