The NFL’s Minnesota Vikings have added a historic twist to their cheerleading lineup with the debut of their first male cheerleaders, Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn—a move that has ignited a social media storm.
Ahead of a preseason game, Shiek and Conn answered critics directly with a confident Instagram post asking, “Wait…did someone say our name?” The post, shared alongside a photo of them in uniform, comes as no surprise given the team’s recent announcement featuring the bold caption: “The next generation of cheer has arrived!”
Despite some backlash online, the Vikings stood firm in their support. The team reminded fans that male cheerleaders are part of their program’s history and have long appeared in collegiate and professional settings. Backing their squad, the Vikings reaffirmed that all cheerleaders, regardless of gender, serve as proud ambassadors of the organization.
