It has been confirmed that at least one American military man was hurt in a rocket strike in eastern Syria.

At least 20 missiles were reportedly fired at a U.S. outpost in Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria on Friday afternoon, with at least eight of them making contact, according to reports from Middle Eastern journalists. At least one service member was hurt in the attacks, which CNN reports took place near the Conoco oil field.

At around 4:35 p.m. EST, journalist Hussein Mortada tweeted, “More than 20 missiles target the American base in the [Conoco] gas field east of Deir Ezzor.”

A U.S. official claimed eight missiles hit the site, according to another tweet from Al Jazeera. Damage and casualty counts were still being tallied by authorities.

OSINTdefender tweeted a video at 4:59 p.m. EST with the sound of distant rocket firing. U.S. bases in the northeastern Syrian Conoco oil fields have reportedly come under attack from heavy rocket fire.

CNN reported at around 6:00 PM EST on Friday that terrorist organizations with ties to Iran fired rockets at U.S. soldiers stationed near the Conoco oil field. According to Fox News, a senior U.S. defense official said that there were two distinct strikes on two different facilities, one with rockets and the other involving drones. The number of victims and extent of damage had not yet been determined by Pentagon officials.

One American military man was hurt in the incident, CNN reported later. According to reports, the status of the military member has stabilized.
