Virginia lawmakers strongly criticized a former Virginia Commonwealth University Health nurse after she was dismissed from her position for posting social media videos that encouraged actions against Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The nurse was terminated after videos circulated online in which she discussed tactics she claimed could be used to obstruct or harm federal immigration officers. Lawmakers said the remarks crossed a serious line, calling them dangerous and incompatible with the ethical responsibilities of healthcare professionals.

VCU Health confirmed the firing, stating that the content of the videos violated workplace standards and did not reflect the institution’s mission or values. Officials emphasized that advocating harm toward any individual, particularly law enforcement officers, is unacceptable and grounds for immediate disciplinary action.

State legislators from multiple districts publicly denounced the comments and urged authorities to review whether the statements violated state or federal law. Some also called for professional licensing bodies to examine whether further action is warranted.

Law enforcement agencies have acknowledged that the videos are under review as part of an ongoing inquiry. No criminal charges have been announced, but officials said the situation is being evaluated carefully.

The incident has intensified debate around protest rhetoric and online activism related to immigration enforcement, as public officials warn that calls for violence or intimidation carry serious legal and professional consequences.
