Vice President Kamala Harris politely refuted reports that she had the lowest popularity ratings of any vice president in American history by citing other polls that showed “great” approval ratings for her. In an engaging conversation with left-leaning ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis, Harris spoke boldly about the subject of her popularity.
There are reports that claim you have the lowest approval rating of any vice president, and Davis did not back down from asking the challenging question. What, if any, part do you think race and gender play in that?
Harris said, “Well, there are polls that also say I have great approval ratings, so,” with a smirk on her lips. The crucial thing, in my opinion, is that efforts are being made to divert attention from the successes of our administration.
The Vice President continued to stress the administration’s accomplishments in spite of the unfavorable press, adding with pride, “We’ve produced over 13 million jobs since we’ve been in office. In addition to everything we have done to restore America’s reputation on the international stage, Joe Biden and I are responsible for 800,000 new manufacturing jobs in the United States.
However, detractors are quick to point out that many of the employment gains she listed were just the consequence of people returning to work after the slowdown brought on by the epidemic.
Recent polling statistics from NBC News indicate that Harris scored the lowest net-negative rating of any vice president in their history, which further complicates the matter. Only 32% of registered voters had a favorable impression of Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the study, while 49% had an unfavorable one, with 39% classifying it as “very negative.”
She has the lowest net-negative rating of any vice president in NBC News polling history, at -17. Despite the results, Harris is adamant that other polls provide a more positive picture of her popularity ratings. She also maintains that there are distractions at work that want to undermine the administration’s outstanding achievements.
