There has been a lot of b.s. about the firing of Andrew McCabe and many people place the blame on President Trump. But by doing so, they totally overlook the fact that an investigation by the FBI resulted in a recommendation that he be terminated.
A second investigation by Investigator General Michael Horowitz also resulted in a recommendation that McCabe be fired. The thing you have to realize is that Trump didn’t appoint Horowitz and neither the president, the AG or the Congress can fire him, therefore he has no pressure on him to reach any conclusion but his own.
Many say Trump fired McCabe for spite. Trump didn’t fire McCabe but he was glad that Sessions did. So, you knew Adam Schiff would have to comment on the situation but his comments were very surprising.
He freely admitted that McCabe’s firing could be justified but he couldn’t help but say that maybe it wasn’t.
Why Schiff said it is no surprise. He knows about all the evidence gathered by the House Intel Committee and the DOJ IG and he did not want to be embarrassed like many other Democrats will be when the IG issues his final report.
Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff said the firing of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe on Friday could have been justified.
“I think the president’s badgering of the attorney general, his urging to be fired before his pension could divest and the fact that McCabe and every other of the James Comey associates … who corroborate James Comey on the issue of potential obstruction of justice, every one of them has been targeted by the administration, by the Republicans in Congress, and is this because they corroborate James Comey?” he asked.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe two days before he was set to retire at the recommendation of the inspector general (IG). The inspector general’s report will be released later this week, and it is said to contain allegations that McCabe leaked certain aspects of the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the press. The IG also claims that McCabe lacked full candor when dealing with investigators.
Maybe it wasn’t a heartfelt admission but it’s closer than anything anyone expected.
