Whistleblowers allege FBI officers in the Washington Field Office “improperly” sealed evidence of criminal behavior involving Hunter Biden, a lawyer, and former lobbyist turned artist, according to remarks made by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Thursday.
Grassley said before the “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government” that whistleblowers within the Senate have notified them that the FBI is investigating the Biden family.
The Washington Field Office of the FBI “improperly ordered information to be closed by the FBI about Hunter Biden’s suspected criminal activity in October 2020 – just before the election,” according to whistleblowers who contacted Grassley’s office.
The inquiry into Hunter’s laptop, which Grassley alleges was “shut down” by former FBI “point man” Timothy Thibault, is unconnected to the continuing criminal investigations into suspected tax fraud by the president’s son, according to Grassley.
During a 2017 meeting with Joe and Hunter Biden, Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski discussed “the Bidens’ family business objectives” for a Chinese energy transaction. Thibault received information regarding the initiative from Bobulinski, and it appears that he buried it. Bobulinski said that 10% was “held by H for the big man,” who he identified as Joe Biden.
Hunter is currently being investigated for potential tax and gun concerns. Hunter may be prosecuted for criminal acts related to the “voluminous data” discovered on his laptop, though it is uncertain if the Justice Department will have the opportunity to do so.
According to a Breitbart News article from January, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) reportedly asked Thibault to “immediately cooperate” with Jordan’s investigation into the Biden family by attending a transcribed interview into allegations of misconduct.
Thibault has a history of refusing to aid out when requested to. As early as October, Jordan tried to schedule an interview with him but he never answered.
Concerning the request for an interview, since the subject matter is related to sensitive law enforcement data and/or current investigations, our client is not in a position to accept this invitation at this time,” Thibault’s lawyer wrote to the committee.
We have no idea what Jordan is looking into, and we have no idea what the “Weaponization” committee intends to do. Now that the Republicans have taken over the House, Jordan may try to use subpoena power to compel the mandatory interview.
As an example of stonewalling, consider Thibault’s unwillingness to help House Republicans during their investigation into the scandal surrounding the Biden family. U.S. banks denied Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) access to more than 150 pieces of information he sought in January. If Comer didn’t acquire the needed information, he threatened to issue a subpoena.
Finally, throughout his inquiry, Comer repeatedly contacted Hunter’s high-priced attorneys in an attempt to get documents and e-mails that may aid his case. Hunter’s reason for rejecting admission was a lack of “oversight basis.”
The White House has also been mum on the subject of Hunter’s business ties.
