White House Blames Democratic Crime Policies for Rising Violence—even in GOP States

At a press briefing today, the White House accused left-leaning city policies—like cashless bail—as key drivers behind soaring violent crime rates, even in cities located within Republican-controlled states. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stressed that nearly all of the nation’s most dangerous cities are run by Democrats, regardless of whether the state itself leans red.

Leavitt cited examples such as Jackson, Mississippi, and Birmingham, Alabama—Democrat-led cities that enacted progressive criminal justice reforms and have seen worsening public safety as a result. She argued that these policies create safe havens for repeat offenders and undermine community security.

As federal crime crackdowns ramp up—including troop and National Guard deployments to several Democratic-run urban areas—the administration framed its actions as necessary interventions to reverse the trend. The White House asserted that proactive law enforcement, rather than lenient reform, offers the best path to restore safety for American families.
