White House Pushes Back on Reports Trump Will Name Ballroom After Himself

In a statement issued Friday, the White House clarified that any formal name for the new presidential estate ballroom will come directly from President Trump, not through anonymous sources or media leaks. Reports published earlier this week suggested the $300 million addition would be branded “The President Donald J. Trump Ballroom,” a name already circulating among senior staff internally.

When asked whether he planned to attach his name to the project, Trump responded briefly: “I won’t get into that now.” The administration also reiterated that the expansion is fully privately funded and not supported by taxpayer dollars. The ballroom, set to replace the demolished East Wing of the White House, is part of a broader renovation plan to add a grand event venue to the historic residence.

The clarification comes amid intensifying scrutiny of the project—its scope, cost, and symbolism—raising serious questions about architectural preservation, presidential legacy and public accountability.
