During a passionate segment on “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg delivered a stern message to conservatives, urging them to cease bringing up Hillary Clinton’s email scandal in light of former President Donald Trump’s recent indictment on 37 felony counts related to mishandling classified documents discovered at Mar-a-Lago.
In her emphatic statement, Goldberg declared, “I’ve had enough of people harping on what Hillary did, and I refuse to entertain discussions about the actions of others. Because none of them, not a single one, have ever refused to cooperate with any inquiries, no matter how poorly formulated or interrogative they were. None of them fought it.”
The co-host went on to argue that individuals found in possession of classified documents demonstrated openness and transparency when faced with investigations.
“That’s what I’m looking for. I don’t want to hear excuses like ‘Well, Hillary!’ in a derisive tone,” Goldberg quipped.
Interestingly, classified documents were also discovered in President Biden’s former office space in November 2022, with additional documents found at his Delaware residence in December. However, Goldberg dismissed any responsibility on Biden’s part.
“I don’t want to hear that anymore! I don’t want to hear people saying ‘Well, Biden did it.’ Biden wasn’t the president, y’all! He was the vice president,” she asserted, highlighting that the power to declassify documents lies with the president, suggesting that former President Barack Obama would have been accountable for such decisions.
Under federal law, vice presidents do possess the authority to classify and declassify documents.
Goldberg contended that Trump’s case was different. “The man broke the law. It’s on tape!” she exclaimed.
Clinton, too, weighed in on the indictment against Trump, taking the opportunity to mock her former political adversary.
In a Twitter post, Clinton promoted merchandise from her organization’s gift shop with the phrase, “BUT HER EMAILS.”
Notably, when classified documents were discovered at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate during an FBI raid last summer, Clinton maintained that she had not possessed any classified emails on her private server. However, a 2018 Inspector General report revealed the presence of 193 classified emails on the former secretary of state’s private server.
In 2015, Clinton underwent an FBI investigation for housing classified information on her personal email server at home. Then-FBI Director James Comey publicly stated that Clinton had mishandled classified information, although he opted not to recommend prosecution, a decision that the Justice Department also declined to pursue.
