Whoopi Goldberg expressed her frustration with those who equate abortion with murder during Monday’s episode of “The View” on ABC.
According to Goldberg, “the Republican Party is ramping up its fight against abortion rights.” The Supreme Court is reviewing a ruling by a conservative federal court in Texas to ban the so-called abortion pill. Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, has signed a bill into law that significantly restricts access to abortion.
“This is my inquiry,” she finally said. I’m curious in this judge in particular. I’m curious about your background, sir. Do I have it correct that you have previous experience working with the Food and Drug Administration? Do you come from a scientific background? Do you have any idea how widely varying medication effects may be from person to person? There isn’t a magic pill that will fix everything. Which country do you call home? I’m growing a little weary of everyone’s absolute conviction in their own opinions. You shouldn’t be telling me what to do instead of talking to my doctor. The state has no authority in this matter. According to the United States, I have the absolute right to do this. I have the right to this. I get that in your mind, abortion is murder. To put it simply, I get how you feel. I hope you can see why I can’t agree with you. Please stop worrying about what’s best for me and my doctor and just let us sort it out. The Food and Drug Administration was established for this same reason. Because of this, we have it.
