Jennifer Vasquez Sura, wife of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, recently avoided answering a pointed question about whether she had once sought a protective order against her husband, further fueling controversy surrounding his deportation case.

The protection order, reportedly filed in 2021, detailed accusations of physical abuse, including punching and scratching that left bruises. When asked directly about the order during an interview, Sura responded only with, “My husband is alive, that’s all I can say.”

In a follow-up statement, she clarified that the request had stemmed from a heated disagreement and that she had never intended to press forward with legal action. According to her, the couple resolved their issues privately and later attended counseling together.

Abrego Garcia’s deportation in March ignited legal and political uproar. Though initially acknowledged by the administration as a procedural mistake, officials later defended the removal, citing concerns over alleged gang ties and domestic violence. A federal court has since ordered the U.S. government to facilitate his return.

As the case continues to unfold, it remains a flashpoint in the broader national debate over immigration enforcement, public safety, and the boundaries of due process.
