In light of the ongoing investigation into the Biden family for wire fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and six other possible violations, the chair of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer (R-KY), has demanded that President Obama’s son, Hunter Biden, turn over thousands of pages of documents and communications related to the probe. The request was turned down by Hunter Biden’s high-powered and pricey legal team.
Abbe Lowell, who has represented politicians such as Bill Clinton and Jared Kushner in controversies, told Comer that he lacked a “legitimate legislative and oversight basis” to seek the documents he had asked for.
Comer requested a variety of classified and unclassified papers, data, and interactions between business colleagues and family members, including Vice President Joe Biden, on Wednesday night from Hunter and James Biden and the family’s business partner Eric Schwerin.
Lowell did not believe Comer’s appeal was credible and so dismissed it.
Instead of engaging in a back-and-forth letter-writing campaign or other formal actions, Lowell said, “I would volunteer to sit with you and your staff to investigate whether Mr. Biden has any knowledge that may impact any legitimate legislative goal and be beneficial to the Committee.”
Former general counsel for nominations to Senate Judiciary Committee Head Chuck Grassley and current chairman of the pro-Trump Article III Project Mike Davis told Breitbart News that Comer’s demands are quite fair.
