A video went viral of an alleged confrontation Wednesday night at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station, where conservative activist Cam Higby pepper-sprayed a woman who is seen in footage lunging at him and striking him with his “MAGA” hat.
According to Higby, he and a colleague were holding an informal political discussion when a woman approached and became erratic, then attempted to grab and hit him with his hat. After issuing verbal warnings, he used pepper spray in response, saying he acted in self-defense.
When U.S. Park Police arrived, the woman allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted officers before being taken into custody. Higby and his companion were listed as victims in the police report. The woman is expected to face federal charges.
