Federal immigration agents in Minneapolis removed a woman from her vehicle after she allegedly blocked an active Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation, triggering a tense standoff with a crowd of demonstrators.
Video from the scene shows the woman positioning her car in the roadway, preventing ICE vehicles from moving forward as protesters gathered and surrounded the agents. As the situation escalated, officers broke a window and pulled her out of the car to clear the obstruction.
People in hooded clothing and protective gear were seen shouting and pressing toward the agents. Law enforcement responded by using tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowd, and several arrests were made for alleged obstruction and assault on officers.
The confrontation took place during a large scale federal immigration enforcement push in the Twin Cities area, which has drawn national attention following a recent fatal encounter between an ICE agent and a local woman earlier in the week.
