Mark Teixeira, renowned for his powerful tenure with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, is leaping from baseball legend to political contender. The slugger-turned-analyst has officially launched a bid as a Republican for Congress in Texas’s 21st Congressional District.

Teixeira’s entry follows Representative Chip Roy’s announcement that he won’t seek reelection, instead pursuing the Texas Attorney General post. Embracing his role as a conservative Texan, Teixeira declared that he’s ready to “defend President Trump’s America First agenda,” support Texas families, and uphold individual liberty. His campaign priorities include border security, pushing back against “radical woke indoctrination,” and reinforcing economic and energy independence.

This marks Teixeira’s first foray into public office, promising a high-profile primary ahead. He enters the race against at least one primary opponent, former district attorney candidate Daniel Betts, underscoring a competitive landscape in a deeply Republican district.
