School Board Member In Hot Water Over Comments Made During Accidental Hot Mic Incident

The Nashville school board is receiving some heavy scrutiny in the wake of one of its board members being heard via a hot mic seeming to suggest setting Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) “on fire.”

The board member was later identified as Sharon Gentry by her fellow board members, are reported by Fox 17. Reportedly, Gentry was caught and recorded asking, “Can we just go set Marsha Blackburn on fire?” in the middle of a break at a board meeting earlier this past week.

A spokesperson for Blackburn has come forward to condemn the comments made by the school board in their own release.

“Americans are learning just how far local officials will go to silence anyone opposed to their radical transformation of our country,” claimed the statement. “It’s telling that the mainstream media refuses to cover any stories that do not go along with their narrative.”

“According to the Biden Administration, parents voicing concerns at school board meetings are ‘domestic terrorists,’ and meanwhile a school board member has used threatening language against a U.S. Senator,” expressed the statement. “Biden and the media are working overtime to attack strong conservatives and silence the millions of real Americans they represent.”

A statement was also put forth by the Davidson County Republican Party that also condemned the statement, sounding the call for Gentry to resign from her role. James Garret, the Davidson County Republican Chairman, claimed, as reported by Fox 17:

We’ve seen some pretty extreme things coming from the Democrats and School Board in the last few years, but this one takes the cake. We utterly condemn this disgraceful behavior from Dr. Gentry, and she should do the right thing and resign her seat for the sake of setting an example for the school system she supposedly represents.

One thing is very clear – in Davidson County these are no longer the sensible and patriotic Democrats many of our parent’s generation used to vote for. Locals will be taking note and we challenge the rest of the MNPS School Board and Democrat Party to now officially condemn Dr. Gentry’s remarks, too.

Blackburn has found themselves in the limelight recently because of a question she put forth to President Joe Biden’s pick to replace Justice Stephen Breyer, who announced back in January his retirement from his seat. In response, Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to take over that seat, and the judge’s confirmation hearing before the Senate started last week.

As part of her slated time to question Biden’s nominee, Blackburn questioned Jackson on if the judge could give a solid definition for the term “woman.”  Jackson hemmed and hawed but stated she could not give any sort of definition for the term because she was not a “biologist.” The Daily Wire reported:

“Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman’?” Blackburn asked.

“Can I provide a definition?” Jackson repeated the question.

    “Mmhmm, yeah,” Blackburn confirmed.

    “I can’t,” Jackson replied.

    “You can’t?” Blackburn asked.

“Not — in this context, I’m not a biologist,” Jackson laughed.

“So you believe the meaning of the word ‘woman’ is so unclear and controversial that you can’t give me a definition?” Blackburn continued to press.

“Senator, in my works a judge, what I do is I address disputes,” Jackson pushed back, suggesting that she could only provide a decision based on arguments and the law. “If there is a dispute about a definition, people make arguments and I look at the law and I decide, so — I’m not —”

“The fact that you can’t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,” Blackburn continued.
