Billy Eichner Doubles Down On Insane Method Of Defense Of His LGBTQ Rom-Com ‘Bros’

Billy Eichner has certainly found a hill and is shouting from the top of it in his defense of his LGBTQ rom-com, “Bros,” which did quite poorly at the box office over this past opening weekend, and he really wants everyone in the world to watch.

Prior to its release, the gay love story was intensely and aggressively advertised, but even that does not seem to have been enough to get people out and into the theater. “Bros” ended up scraping in just $4.8 million for its opening weekend, cementing it quite a way behind other currently airing movies, including “Smile” ($22 million), “Don’t Worry Darling” ($7.3 million), and “The Woman King” ($7 million).

“Box office, as we all know, has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a movie. And tweeting about a movie you haven’t actually seen is meaningless. That’s just twitter bullsh**. The majority of people who see Bros really love it! Go check it out and see for yourself!” whined Eichner via social media on Monday.

In another post chasing after that, the screenwriter issued a threat, stating: “And yes I’m going to continue tweeting about Bros every day for the next year just to spite you! GO BROS!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!”

Then Eichner quickly limited the replies to his post.

This is not the first time this person, who is known for staring on “Billy on the Street,” has tried to shout about his feeling concerning “Bros” via his various social media accounts. This past Sunday, he called on those who aren’t “homophobic weirdos” to go and watch the film.

“Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold out theater playing BROS in LA,” he stated. “The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out. It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.”

“Rolling Stone already has BROS on the list of the best comedies of the 21st century,” he went on.

Eichner, who just so happens to also start in the film he wrote, whined that the poor response to the film to just being heterosexual audiences not wanting to see it.

“Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros,” he exclaimed via Twitter. “And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.”

“Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight” because “it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often,” he concluded. “I love this movie so much. GO BROS!!!”
