“It’s going to be a bad night,” says a Democrat strategist about the midterm elections.

Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen foretold doom for her party, claiming that Democrats had only themselves to blame for the tragic outcome of Tuesday’s midterm elections because they had failed to “listen to people” on several occasions.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” moderated by Dana Bash, Rosen stated the Democrats were going to have “a difficult night” on Tuesday because they hadn’t adapted their midterm messaging to the problems that voters had said were most important, such as inflation and the economy.

Rosen began by saying she was a “committed Democrat” who was not happy with the recent decisions made by party leaders.

“I have been a dedicated Democrat for many years, yet I’m still unsatisfied. Rosen began by predicting that Democrats would have a rough night in the upcoming election, saying, “I just think that we are — we did not listen to voters in this election, and I think we are going to have a bad night.” She went on to warn Democrats to take lessons from what she predicted would be a tough election.

While Rosen acknowledged that their chat would have little effect on Tuesday, he expressed his hope that it would have lasting repercussions. Because voters will tell you again that the economy is their top priority, you should pay attention. Put an end to the cries that our democracy is in jeopardy. Conflicting interpretations of elections pose a threat to democracy. The people have spoken, and I don’t think the Democrats have answered their needs this time.

CNN’s Bakari Sellers jumped in, saying that specific Democratic candidates, like Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA), were running solid campaigns and paying attention to what local voters wanted, even if the national narrative had gone awry.

Rosen countered by arguing that even in states where there were popular Democratic candidates, there were equally popular Republican candidates who were either doing well on their own or benefiting from Biden being unpopular.

Rosen concurred, saying, “Mark Kelly is popular.” However, Kari Lake has more visitors. Mark Kelly will suffer from the combined unfavorability of Joe Biden and the widespread acclaim for Kari Lake. As a result, I fear that the top of the ticket spells problems for us.
