President Donald Trump took time this Wednesday to fly out to Las Vegas and meet with victims as well as first responders of the Las Vegas mass shooting perpetrated by Stephen Paddock.
One video, in particular, is making the rounds. Thomas Gunderson, one of the victims who was still in his hospital bed, manages to stand up, wounded leg and all, to greet the President.
“Hi Thomas. How are you?’ Melania Trump asks in the video, urging Gunderson to stay seated as she moves into his hospital room. “I’m okay,” he replies.
Then Donald Trump enters the room and can be heard saying “Hey, this guy looks tough to me” as Gunderson struggles to get out of bed.
Gunderson posted the video to his Facebook page with the message: “There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president, and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!”

The moment came as Donald and First Lady Melania Trump toured University Medical Center in Las Vegas, a Level I trauma hospital that received more than 100 of the most severely injured victims of Sunday night’s mass shooting. Trump praised the doctors and nurses who were on hand to help treat and comfort the wounded as they poured through the hospital doorways.
At latest count, more than 450 people were injured in the attack on the Route 91 country music festival at Las Vegas Village, and 58 died.
Trump also met with first responders, including members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department who were on hand at the festival and at the Mandalay Bay hotel. The President called the officers “an inspiration,” and said that if not for the first responders, “it could have been worse, could have been a lot worse.”
The president then delivered a series of remarks, alongside Nevada governor Brian Sandoval.
