At least 3,000 individuals reportedly attended Matt Walsh’s “Rally to End Child Mutilation,” according to the Tennessee State Police.
Police in Tennessee said that 3,000 people attended Matt Walsh’s “Rally to End Child Mutilation,” all of whom were in support of the cause.
Walsh called on the audience to “walk in the truth” on Friday at a raucous rally at the Tennessee State Capitol in an effort to ban transgender therapies for children.
Several of the presenters talked about the need of shielding young people from potentially harmful medical interventions including puberty suppressants and mastectomies. The list of guests includes former Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Republican Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn, transgender men Scott Newgent, Robby, and Landon Starbuck, and de-transitioner Chloe Cole, who all appeared in Walsh’s “What is a Woman?” documentary.
Despite claims from national media sources that only “anti-transgender rights extremists” were in attendance, state officials estimated a turnout of 1,500.
From the observation deck of the Tennessee War Memorial Plaza in Nashville, I got a great view of the Matt Walsh rally. From up here, I’d have a good view of the crowd below. The plaza appeared to be nearly at capacity. Although there were no official ways to count them, Tennessee Highway Patrol public relations officer Lt. Bill Miller told The Daily Wire that he believed the crowd size to be between 2,500 and 3000 people.
A few protesters yelled, “F*** you, Fascists!” and other obscenities at the speakers.
Walsh told the crowd he was glad the protesters had been there to provide a “contrast” to the people who came out of genuine concern for the youngsters in the audience.
Walsh went on to claim that the reason why you aren’t hearing their side of the story is that “they’re cowards.” They are shut out of the discussion. They need just make an effort to quiet us in order to achieve their goal. This, however, is not going to work. This is it; we’re staying put.
Cole said she “socially transitioned” at a young age from her female birth gender. The 18-year-old said she underwent a double mastectomy and is resigned to spending the rest of her life dealing with the effects of what pro-trans activists consider to be reversible surgery.
The Daily Wire released a report in which it polled protestors about de-transitioners who had expressed remorse about undergoing “gender-affirming treatment.”
One protester said, “First of all, it’s a case-by-case matter.” In some situations, “[Cole] argues that no youngsters shouldn’t be transitioning at the correct time.”
The demonstrator told the audience to “Google it and conduct your own study” when asked how to handle the scenarios being discussed.
Another protester called the speakers and de-transitioners Nazis for just sharing their stories.
The demonstrator told The Daily Wire, “[Cole] is a Nazi and she doesn’t care about other trans youths.” To “s*** on millions of people who want to kill themselves but can’t because of persons like her,” she is using her own misery.
Walsh convinced the crowd that they were on the winning side because of their anger.
They will keep losing, he said, as long as we keep fighting.
A large audience attended Walsh’s address to demonstrate their approval.
Mike Munroe, 48, of Dayton, Tennessee, attended the demonstration with his five children and one wife. He reportedly went to demonstrate to his children that he is “proactively for them,” as he put it in an interview with The Daily Wire.
Munroe commented, “They got to see here that there are many lovely persons; that mankind isn’t all mad; that they are not all wanting to hurt others.” They had to experience both the world’s goodness and its evilness firsthand to fully appreciate both.
