The metal fencing that encircled the Capitol in the wake of the January 6th riot has reportedly made another appearance after being set back up prior to the soon-to-take-place State of the Union address from Old Uncle Joe.
Officials in the area are worried about a traffic-stopping protest similar to what we have seen in Canda’s Freedom Convoy have supposedly caused Capitol Police to set it fence back up, as reported by a segment from Fox News.
The report read:
Security officials will reinstall fencing around the Capitol next week ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address, Fox News can confirm.
U.S. Capitol Police are bracing for a potential “Freedom Convoy” truck protest to Washington D.C. for the March 1 speech. “Freedom Convoy” truckers have been protesting in Canada for weeks against coronavirus restrictions and vaccine mandates and caused a temporary blockade of the busy Ambassador Bridge border crossing between Windsor and Detroit.
Capitol Police say they are “aware” of similar protests coming to Washington D.C. and are making plans to both “facilitate” First Amendment protest activity while working with law enforcement agencies and the D.C. National Guard to prepare for Biden’s address.
Officials with the Capitol Police forces have issued another statement on Friday that stated that they would be orchestrating a security plan for the upcoming presidential address alongside members of the United States Secret Service, adding, “Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union. As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity.”
Originally, the released statement included a comment that spoke about the possibility of the metal fencing being set back up but at such time no clear choice had been made: “The temporary inner-perimeter fence is part of those ongoing discussions and remains an option, however at this time no decision has been made.” Since the comments release it has been confirmed by Fox News that the fence is slated to be set back up.
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, called for a limit to be set up concerning the attendance at Biden’s very first State of the Union address, slated to take place on March 1st, stated in the report.
It was reported by The Daily Wire:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) may be considering a cap for attendance at President Joe Biden’s upcoming State of the Union Address, according to a report from Axios.
“Scoop: McCarthy told members of Republican leadership at an ELC meeting today that Pelosi told him she was instituting a 25-member attendance cap for Biden’s State of the Union address, two sources in the room told @axios,” the outlet’s Congressional reporter tweeted late Tuesday afternoon.
