Chris Cuomo, the disgraced former anchor for CNN, has tried to get a job as a firefighter in the wake of his termination from the extremely left-leaning news network due to his part in attempting to help his brother, then-New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo, try and work his way around a sexual misconduct scandal that ultimately led to his resignation.
The former anchor attempted to apply for a position as a volunteer firefighter with the Fire Department in East Hampton but was made to recall his application because he thought he would not be able to put in the required time for the spot after meeting with the fire department officials.
Many different sources stated to The Daily Beast that Cuomo seemingly “balked” at the required time commitment part of the position.
“It’s a very time-consuming thing. There are monthly meetings and drills and you have to meet a percentage of your calls,” explained EHFD Chief Duane Forrester. “That’s why we don’t have many celebrities.”
Cuomo filed a $125 million lawsuit against the news company, making a demand of $15 million in lost salary and $110 million in further damages, in the wake of the network terminating him over an investigation into him assisting his brother to deal with a political scandal.
One left-wing attorney, Debra S. Katz, stated in a release back in December that she was working with a client who stated that Chris Cuomo engaged in “serious sexual misconduct” against her at a different network.
Katz stated that she had told CNN of the allegations and that it was said allegations that ended up being the cause for Chris Cuomo being fired from the network. Katz stated in a release that Cuomo showed extreme hypocrisy when he claimed he cared “very deeply” about the issue of sexual harassment, but was revealed in an investigation by Letitia James, the Attorney General of New York, to have helped his brother’s attempts to set up a smear campaign against the accusers.
“Hearing the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s on-air words and disgusted by his efforts to try to discredit these women, my client retained counsel to report his serious sexual misconduct against her to CNN,” stated Katz.
Katz claimed that CNN terminated Cuomo within just a few days of the allegations coming up about her client.
“My client came forward at this time because she felt in sharing her story and related documentation, she could help protect other women. She will continue to cooperate with CNN’s investigation into her allegations,” stated Katz. “Given the nature of her allegations, she wishes to remain anonymous, and we ask that you respect this decision.”
While announcing the anchor’s firing, CNN stated that over the course of their investigation, “additional information” came to light and that the news source would carry on its investigation of the allegations despite the anchor no longer working with the network.
“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother,” stated Chris Cuomo in a release. “So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot. I owe them all and will miss that group of special people who did really important work.”
