Cruz Calls Out Old Uncle Joe For Being ‘Weak’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called out Democrat President Joe Biden as part of an interview with members of The Daily Wire this week about how he is handling foreign policy and various national security issues.

“Literally, every region on Earth has gotten markedly worse since Joe Biden became president and worse from the perspective of U.S. national security,” stated Cruz. “Biden combines radical leftist ideology with manifest incompetence. And it’s a toxic brew, last seen with Jimmy Carter, and the debacle of foreign policy that unfolded under his disastrous administration, Biden’s administration in just a year is already worse than Jimmy Carter.”

“Biden systematically undermines our friends and allies and Biden systematically shows weakness and appeasement to our enemies. Last year, when the Biden administration disastrously withdrew from Afghanistan, surrendering to the Taliban, abandoning Americans behind enemy lines, abandoning the Bagram Air Base before the evacuation, which resulted in 13 American servicemen and women being murdered by terrorists released as the direct result of the Biden administration’s incompetence,” he stated. “That catastrophe had enormous consequences in Afghanistan. But the consequences were felt around the world. Every enemy of America looked to the Oval Office and took the measure of the man in the Oval Office. And they concluded that Joe Biden is weak, feckless, and utterly ineffective. And as a result of the disaster in Afghanistan, the chances of a Russian invasion of Ukraine increased tenfold, the chances of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan increased tenfold.”

“The enemies of America have determined that the Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces is too weak to do a damn thing about their hostile intentions. And as a result, those hostile intentions are far more likely to manifest in hostile activity. The left believes in appeasement. There is a reason that nobody studies at the Neville Chamberlain School of Foreign Affairs. Appeasement doesn’t work and it’s provocative,” he continued.  “Appeasement increases the chances of military conflict, because bullies and tyrants are far more likely to engage in bad conduct in the face of weakness. I believe in peace through strength. It is worth asking, why did Russia not invade Ukraine in 2017? Why did Russia not invade Ukraine in 2018, in 2019, in 2020? And the answer is we had a president, we had a commander in chief who they didn’t want to mess with.”

These remarks from Cruz concerning Old Uncle Joe’s foreign policy choices come to a head after Russia gathered well over 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border with intent to begin an invasion into the country.

Cruz highlighted 2 massive decisions from the Biden-Harris administration that he states that he thinks have put Europe at the edge of another massive war: the disastrously failed pullout from Afghanistan alongside Biden dropping sanctions from Nord Stream 2.

    Cruz stated:

Putin has long wanted to invade Ukraine. Putin has been very candid, he has described the dissolution of the Soviet Union as in his view, the most disastrous geopolitical event of the 20th century. And his ambitions have long been to reassemble the Soviet Union. He yearns for what he sees as the days of Soviet greatness. If you’re going to reassemble the Soviet Union, the first and most important part is Ukraine, the breadbasket of the former Soviet Union, Putin has invaded Ukraine before. He did so in 2014, he invaded Crimea. But he stopped short, he didn’t invade the entirety of the country, and the reason he didn’t is because he needs Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Russia’s major export is natural gas and oil, and that natural gas goes right through the middle of Ukraine on pipelines. If he invaded Ukraine, he risks damaging or destroying that energy infrastructure, which would mean that he could not get his natural gas to market in Europe. Accordingly, the next year in 2015, Putin began building a pipeline called Nord Stream 2, an undersea pipeline that goes directly from Russia to Germany, designed to circumvent Ukraine so he could march into Ukraine and not risk getting his gas to market.

Cruz has, on many occasions, hurled criticism as Old Uncle Joe about Nord Stream 2, stating that Biden was “shaping up to be the most pro-Russia administration of the modern era,” going on to add later: “We always knew Biden was in bed with Putin, now they’re spooning.”

Cruz has spearheaded quite a few efforts in Washington to attempt to stop the construction of the pipeline, which was finalized by President Donald Trump signing a bill into law that placed sanctions on the pipeline.

Cruz also stated that Democrats trying to take a stand by voting against his bill seeking to place new sanctions have only ended up putting Europe on the verge of another massive war. “The U.S. military has advised Congress that Europe is in the greatest jeopardy that it has been since 1945,” Cruz stated. “That’s the result of Biden’s weakness.”
