On this past Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Five,” Dana Perino, an anchor for Fox News, went off on Geraldo Rivera. She called him out due to his assessment of certain photos, which depicted Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Agents on horseback swinging around their reins, which were the sparking point for massive social media backlash claiming that the agents had been trying to whip migrants.
The panel spoke about the recent reports from the administration of President Joe Biden that said they planned to proceed with disciplinary actions against the agents despite a thorough investigation that had shown no evidence whatsoever that the agents had actually done anything wrong or even slightly outside the scope of their standard duties, and all despite claiming that the agents did not deserve to receive any disciplinary actions, Rivera was quick to try to spin the statements by claiming that the optics of the entire situation had been bad.

Perino, who spent her childhood on a ranch, made the argument that from the inception of the entire situation had been misread by people who had never spent any time at all-around horses and had zero clue what they were actually looking at. “They convicted these guys before they even investigated,” she claimed, adding that the only thing that the agents deserved, especially after being forced onto desk duty in the wake of the incident, was an extensive apology.
Jesse Watters, Perino’s Co-host, joked that if the agents of the CBP had pulled the illegal immigrants onto their horses and escorted them into the country themselves, Biden just may have issued them a series of awards instead.
“Nonsense! I defer to Dana, who is very measured in her emotions and when she says this is the worst thing she’d seen, I respect that deeply,” claimed Rivera in response. “Because I know you don’t —”
Perino then jumped in, nothing that the current shortage in baby formula was “really bad too.”
Rivera continued to make the claim that when it came to issues like immigration, Haitians more often than not seemed to be handed “the short end of the stick,” making the argument that they were pushed away at the border in greater numbers than the migrants from any other nation.
Perino fired back an objection, but Rivera then swapped over to talk about the Border Patrol, claiming, “This is, you must admit, when you look at this visual — put up a shot, put up any of the shots of that series —”
“That’s so wrong!” Perino cut off. “You’re a lawyer, how can you say this?”
“You’re a lawyer,” reiterated co-host Greg Gutfeld.
“You have four grown ups, and they’re riding these big horses,” Rivera went on. “You got these people that just walked 5,000 miles —”
“Oh, my God …” stated Perino just before everyone jumped in to talk at once.
“— risking everything, and now there’s big macho guys —” Rivera attempted to state again.
“How would you handle it, Geraldo?” posited Watters.
“Big macho guys … you can’t even give these guys a little … you can’t apologize for being wrong on this,” stated Gutfeld.
“I am delighted that they are not being criminally prosecuted,” stated Rivera, forcing Gutfeld to respond, “That’s not true.”
“Don’t tell me what I am feeling,” stated Rivera. “You can have your opinion, but don’t have my opinion … I think this whole sorry chapter is better off in the rear view.”
