Democrats Score Huge Victory: NYC Loses 25,000 Jobs and Tons of Cash

Democrats lead by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has successfully driven Amazon and it’s 25,000 jobs out of New York City. NYC will lose their city tax paid by those 25,000 workers not to mention the increased economic activity they would brought with them.

They criticized the $3 billion dollar tax break awarded to Amazon. They succeeded in driving them out, so what have they actually accomplished? They still will not get that three billion in taxes but they also lose 25,000 jobs and increased economic activity.

So, explain to me how that is a win. AOC doesn’t care about results as long as she gets favorable coverage by the press, no matter how stupid her agenda is.

    From Fox News

Amazon announced Thursday it was turning back on its plans to build its second headquarters in New York City, the company said in a statement. The move comes after backlash from lawmakers, notably Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who bemoaned the project.

“After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens,” the Seattle-based Amazon said in the release.

    Amazon released the following statement:

“For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term. While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.”

    From Fox News

New York City Council members unloaded on Amazon and the Economic Development Corporation during a contentious hearing about the tech giant’s plan to bring its second headquarters to the Long Island City waterfront.

During the hearing, two Amazon executives were peppered with questions about the deal that will bring at least 25,000 jobs paying an average of $150,000 per year in exchange for tax breaks and perks worth up to $3 billion. The plan for a helipad, which has been criticized by Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, drew particular scorn.
