One doctor who officially endorsed Democratic Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman’s health was found to be a donator to the campaign funds.
This past Wednesday, a report was put out by the Fetterman campaign coming from his primary care doctor claiming that the politician is now in good health and will be able to effectively carry out the duties of his position as senator if he were to be elected. However, the doctor in question, Dr. Clifford Chen, has personally donated over $1,300 to the Fetterman campaign, and in total almost $2,500 to various Democrats in quite a few closely contested races across the country. The report is the most recent development regarding the recovery of Fetterman from a recent massive stroke, which has been front-and-center in the Senate contest in Pennsylvania.
“Overall, the Lt. Governor is recovering well from his stroke and his health has continued to improve,” expressed Chen, highlighting that Fetterman’s physical exam came back normal and that he has officially returned to his full strength and coordination in all four limbs. “He spoke intelligently without cognitive deficit. His speech was normal and he continues to exhibit symptoms of an auditory processing disorder which can come across as hearing difficulty. Occasional words he will ‘miss’ which seems like he doesn’t hear the word but it is actually not processed properly. His hearing of sound such as music is not affected. His communication is significantly improved compared to his first visit assisted by speech therapy which he has attended on a regular basis since the stroke.”
“I have spoken with his neurologist and cardiologist and he will follow-up with them routinely,’ stated Chen. “The Lt. Governor takes appropriate medications to optimize his heart condition and prevent future strokes. He also exercises routinely and can walk 4 to 5 miles regularly without difficulty. Overall, Lt. Governor Fetterman is well and shows strong commitment to maintaining good fitness and health practices. He has no work restrictions and can work full duty in public office.”
However, Chen has been both an active and vocal donor to Fetterman since his initial announcement back in 2021. Public records from the Federal Elections Commission indicate that he first donated a sum of $500 to the Fetterman campaign back in 2021, and an additional $830 throughout 2022, which included a $100 donation issued on the 23rd of September.
One spokesman for the Fetterman campaign outright dismissed all of the concerns regarding political ties of Chen. “This isn’t about politics – it’s an independent, detailed medical report written by John’s primary care doctor based on his latest office visit from last week,” explained Joe Calvello, a spokesman for the Fetterman Campaign, to Fox News. “Anybody baselessly attacking John’s doctor or questioning the standards and integrity of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center system is grasping at straws because the issue that Dr. Oz staked his whole campaign on just fell apart today.”
