Before I start in on what might the most hilariously pathetic thing you’ll read all year let me tell you a joke.
How many third wave, 1st world, feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb? 12… it takes 12.
One to screw it in
One to excoriate men for creating the need for illumination
One to blame men for inventing such a faulty means of illumination
One to suggest the whole “screwing” bit to be too “rape-like”
One to deconstruct the light bulb itself as being phallic
One to blame men for no changing the bulb
One to blame men for trying to change the bulb instead of letting a woman do it
One to blame men for creating a society that discourages women from changing light bulbs
One to blame men for creating a society where women change too many light bulbs
One to advocate that lightbulb changers should have wage parity with electricians
One to alert the media that women are now “out-lightbulbing” men
And one to just sit there taking pictures for her blog for photo-evidence that men are unnecessary
So Sophie is a feminist who decided it’d be “meaningful” to marry herself in a rather pathetic attempt to I guess fight the patriarchy. And proving further you just can’t trust a 3rd wave, 1st world, feminist she goes and cheats on herself.
And she went all out! The white dress, bridesmaids, flowers, flower girl, and you get the picture. Then she met a man named Ruari and just couldn’t resist going behind her “partners” back and having a torrid affair with him.
TWIST! He eventually dumped her… ugh, for himself. In a similar fashion, dude marries himself.
But she still feels marrying one’s self will help improve self-love or some such crap…
“It’s saying that self-compassion and self-care is as important as romantic relationships,” continued Sophie. “It doesn’t mean you’re rejecting all other meaningful relationships in your life and becoming a nun forevermore. It means you’re rejecting bad relationships.”
“If only there were more self-love in the world, we wouldn’t need ceremonies like this. This is a statement which looks to raise the profile of self-love, saying it’s as important as romantic love and doing it as a formal ceremony as anyone else would have a wedding,” she said.
“Marrying yourself is a lifelong commitment to be responsible for your own happiness, so divorce is not an option.”
I’m sure at some point she’ll write a book or something about this whole Convoluted, ridiculous, and stupid situation.
