Jason Aldean, a well-known country singer, has once again stepped up to prove that he stands by his wife Brittany in the wake of her being the target of some heavy criticism for her comments about the transgender movement.
This past weekend, Brittany posted a picture of herself via social media that sported the caption, “I love y’all, that’s all.” She got quite a bit of support from the comments, but one of the more popular replies ended up coming from her Husband Jason who simply stated, “My Barbie!!”
This comment seemed to be a simple reference to country singer Maren Morris labeling Brittany as an “Insurrection Barbie.”
The drama all kicked off just last week in the wake of Brittany stating in a video caption, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”
Jason chimed in with a joke of that nature as well, saying, “Lmao!! Im glad they didn’t too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out,” while also posting the cry-laughing emoji.
Her comments sparked an instant burst of backlash, mostly through the more liberal country stars. One notable comment came from Cassadee Pope as she chimed in with her own comments.
“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging,” Pope stated in her response. “But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”
Morris popped in to agree with Pope, stating, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”
Ryan Hurd, another left-wing country star that is married to Morris, chose to stand behind his wife’s angry comments.
“Scoring quick points by picking on trans kids isn’t something that is brave at all. And I’m proud of Maren for sticking up for them. Badge of honor to have CO engage in completely normal discourse, too. Shut up and sing only applies to those who you disagree with,” he stated via social media.
He went on to post another follow-up, “Getting a lot of people telling me our career is over, as if the last time she spoke up about something it disappeared. Honestly, we’re pretty ok over here. Tours are good, got a 2 year old we love, we’re f***ing fine, and I promise she isn’t going to shut up now.”
Brittany dealt with quite a bit of criticism for her own statements, but so far has refused to take back her comments or back down and has chosen to instead double down. “Advocating for the genital mutilation of children under the disguise of love and calling it ‘gender affirming care’ is one of the worst evils,” she replied to all of the criticism.
“I will always support my children and do what I can to protect their innocence,” she went on. “Some parents want to be accepted by society so badly, that they’re willing to make life-altering decisions for their children who aren’t old enough to fully comprehend the consequences of those actions.”
“Love is protecting your child until they are mature enough as an adult to make their own life decisions,” Brittany finished. “Thankful my parents allowed me to go through my tomboy phase without changing my gender. Until then, leave children alone!”
