Christine Ford is shying away from testifying, probably because she would have to be under oath and under the threat of perjury for doing so. Her lawyer says she refuses to testify until the FBI conducts a complete investigation of the incident. What this really means is that there is no way she is going to take an oath and testify. She has a top lawyer, who knows that the FBI will not investigate this matter no matter what.
There are two reasons that the FBI won’t investigate. The first one is that the FBI can only investigate federal crimes. So, even if they wanted to investigate it, they can’t. But, let’s say for a moment, they could investigate. Ford cannot say where it happened when it happened and who was there. That’s not just a little to go on, it’s nothing to go on. What about the local police? Well, they won’t investigate it because it is so far from the statute of limitations, that it’s not even funny.
Kamala Harris is complaining that Republicans are trying to force her to testify. Those of us with an attention span of over 10 seconds remember that she volunteered to testify. The truth here is that this is a delaying tactic, aimed at keeping Kavanaugh out of the next session of SCOTUS and to prevent a conservative minority that can overrule the leftist activist judges. The Republicans need to push ahead. If she doesn’t want to testify, tough luck. Move on and vote Kavanaugh onto the court and make sure Soros has wasted his money again on a hopeless cause.
Ford’s insistence on an FBI investigation — which a federal law enforcement official told Fox News was “totally inappropriate” — throws the entire hearing into doubt: Grassley, R-Ia., had threatened to nix the proceeding if Ford refused to participate. It was also sure to add fuel to Republican claims that the allegations — which were known to ranking Judiciary Committee Democrat Dianne Feinstein in July, but only revealed to federal authorities last Thursday — are part of a concerted effort to stall Kavanaugh’s nomination at the last minute.
“While Dr. Ford’s life was being turned upside down, you and your staff scheduled a public hearing for her to testify at the same table as Judge Kavanaugh in front of two dozen U.S. Senators on national television to relive this traumatic and harrowing incident,” Ford’s attorneys wrote to Grassley.
Welcome to the Supreme Court, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
