The nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court got one step closer to completion. Judge Kavanaugh sent the Democrats in Congress his completed questionnaire.
In it, he says he was not asked any questions on how he would rule on any cases either before the court now or could be in the near future. He has presented the committee with hundreds of pages of writing and any other information that was requested of him. Some have said it is the most complete disclosure of any justice of all time or at least in the last 30 or 40 years.
Brett Kavanaugh said in his response to the Senate Judiciary Committee that no one from the Trump administration asked him about “any currently pending or specific case, legal issue, or question in a manner that could reasonably be interpreted as seeking any express or implied assurances concerning your position on such case, issue, or question.”
Kavanaugh previously served 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit which means he is vetted, however, the Democrats are still trying to delay his confirmation using several different strategies.
Kavanaugh also turned over speeches, interviews, hundreds of pages of published writings, and past court filings, Politico reported.
Kavanaugh wrote in his questionnaire that White House counsel Don McGahn first discussed a potential nomination with him late on June 27, the same day that Justice Anthony Kennedy officially announced a retirement from the Supreme Court. On July 8, the day before Trump named Kavanaugh, the nominee wrote that he spoke with the president in the morning and met that evening with the president and First Lady Melania Trump.
“During that meeting, the President offered me the nomination, and I accepted,” Kavanaugh wrote.
Sen Chuck Grassley was well pleased by the material that Kavanaugh turned over:
“Grassley: I appreciate Judge Kavanaugh’s diligent and timely response to the broadest and most comprehensive questionnaire ever sent by this Committee…These voluminous materials will provide us a very good understanding of Judge Kavanaugh’s qualifications and legal thinking”

The Democrats are in a desperate bid to delay the confirmation of Kavanaugh. Pundits are reporting that the Senate Democrats want the nomination process to go into next year in case they get control of the Senate. But I don’t think that is correct. Even the most deranged liberal has to see that Republicans are going to pick up seats, not lose them.
So, why the delay? They are really trying to make the process go beyond when the next court is in session in October, meaning that the activist judges on the court can deadlock anything ruling the conservatives could win. Without Kavanaugh, you will see that nothing will get done like the session after Scalia’s death.
