As discovered from a recently carried out poll, roughly 7 out of 10 Americans think that the country is on the entirely wrong track.
When asked if the U.S. is headed in the correct direction or if it had started to go off the rails, a measly 32% stated they were on the right track versus a shocking 68% stating wrong track, as reported by a poll from Morning Consult.
Many Americans are throwing blame on President Joe Biden, who has been trying to pass the buck onto the Russian invasion of Ukraine along with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Let’s be absolutely clear about why prices are high now are high for two reasons. One was COVID – the way the global economy works,” Biden said in a speech to the National League of Cities on Monday. “Now a second big reason for inflation is Vladimir Putin,” he stated. “Make no mistake – the current spiking gas prices largely the fault of Vladimir Putin.”
Yet another poll that was recently conducted discovered that 7 out of every 10 Americans asked also thought he was incorrectly handling the massive surges of inflation across the United States.
The aforementioned rate of inflation spiked by almost 8% over the past year, seeing to the soaring prices of everything from eggs, milk, and bread all the way to gasoline.
Over the past year, the consumer price index has seen an increase of roughly 7.9%, which is a four-decade high, as reported by information from the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. “The February acceleration was the fastest pace since January 1982, back when the U.S. economy confronted the twin threat of higher inflation and reduced economic growth,” reported CNBC.
A new poll that cropped up this past Sunday from Ipsos/ABC News brought to light that Americans seem to blame Biden for pretty much all of the issues. “On inflation, President Biden has a 70 percent disapproval rating, compared to 29 percent who approve. On gas prices, 70 percent also disapprove, while 28 percent approve,” read the ABC report.
“Over the past several months, Americans’ wallets have been hit by skyrocketing inflation, and now, Biden is feeling that crunch in his approval numbers. Seventy percent of Americans disapprove of his handling of inflation,” reported ABC. “The White House faces similarly concerning numbers related to economic recovery, with 58% disapproving, a 12-month high, per the ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted using Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel. This presents a political problem for Biden, who must navigate an electorate growing more frustrated across several sectors, while attempting to manage an exploding war in Europe with firmness and authority.”
It was also discovered that many Americans, some 77%, do show support for Biden’s most recent choice to cut off all Russian oil, which counts for about 8% of our daily use.
There were more issues brought to light by the Ipsos/ABC poll. The overall approval/disapproval rating for Biden on Immigration and the border sat at 39%-59%, while his rating on the economic recovery was 41%-58%, and in regard to climate change it stood at 44%-54%.
Even when speaking on Russia, Biden was negative, sporting a worrying 48% approval rating for his actions and a 51% disapproval rating. “The public is divided on a hypothetical no-fly zone over Ukraine, a provocation toward Russia that White House officials signaled they are not considering at this time. Thirty-one percent support a no-fly zone, while 34% oppose it and another 34% do not know their stance on such an action,” as reported by the poll.
