A newly made public poll, which spokes to roughly 1,300 Hispanic voters, highlighted that roughly half of those engaged think that the United States is currently running down the wrong path, highlighting various key issues which have been altering their views on the current political climate — most notably with regard to healthcare, inflation, and crime.
One conservative polling firm which worked alongside Visto Media on behalf of the Latino advocacy group Bienvenido, WPA Intelligence, carried out a large poll of 1,288 Hispanic voters with a 3% margin of error near the start of the month. The group built out the same prior to the 2022 midterm elections in order to find out which side of the demographic would likely move more while at the polls in just under two weeks.
As reported by the poll, roughly 56% of Hispanic voters claimed that they were quite frustrated with the current state of the country and economy and that the nation has really soared down the wrong track.
“Looking at this pitch, I think it certainly shows that Hispanics are recognizing that there are problems with what is going on right now in the direction of the country,” explained the firm’s principal and managing director, Conor Maguire, to gathered reporters at the Monday presentation.
Officials with WPA claimed that the poll made use of a verified voter Pew Research study of the 2020 Hispanic Vote in which % supported former President Trump and 59% used their ballots to support their ballots for Biden. Almost half the Hispanic voters for Trump support him in 2016 while the rest were voters who either swapped over to his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton their vote — or did not cast a ballot.
As reported by the poll, Republicans have reduced the Hispanic margins for Democrats by almost half over the course of four years.
Pollsters have claimed that while many Hispanic voters sport more conservative cultural leanings like moral values, faith, and religion, such topics did not rank high in their priorities. Despite this, a vast majority of Hispanic voters seek to put a limit on abortions to 15 weeks or less and think it is highly inappropriate for educational institutes to teach radical gender ideology to children or allow them to attend drag queen shows.
Over the course of the last five years, 22% of those spoken to for the poll claimed they have shifted more conservative, with just 19% stating that they have ended up being more liberal.
