Vice President Biden stated on Tuesday that the “right to privacy” is guaranteed by the Ninth Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Vice President Biden remarked while speaking at the Democratic National Committee-sponsored “Restore Roe” event in Washington, DC.
“The right to privacy is guaranteed under the Ninth Amendment. That was the common understanding at the time, “Biden stated during his talk.
“The enumeration in the Constitution, of some rights, must not be interpreted to deny or disparage others maintained by the people,” declares the Ninth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
During a June 30 news conference with NATO, Biden made the same assertion.
On the topic of privacy’s status as constitutional protection, Biden remarked, “I have written, way back, several law review papers concerning the Ninth Amendment and the – and the Fourteenth Amendment.” This quote came from a lecture Biden gave in June.
If voters in the United States retain the Democrats in the majority in January, as Biden promised during his address on Tuesday, Roe v. Wade will be written into law.
Biden added that electing Democrats in the next midterm elections is “essential” because they will defend abortion rights.
“If we do this, I assure you and the American people that we will. In January, once Congress adopts a bill to establish Roe v. Wade legally, I will sign it into law, “In the words of Vice President Biden. “If the Republicans succeed in passing a nationwide ban, it will have no bearing on where you happen to call home in the United States. Okay, so let me be crystal clear. If such a law comes up for a vote in the next several years, I will veto it. “Quote from Vice President Biden.
