Reportedly, groups of pro-abortion extremists are reportedly issuing threats to burn down the Supreme Court building and murder justices and its respective clerks, which has put law enforcement officials on high alert and forced them to ready themselves for political violence should Roe v. Wade be overturned.

A May 13th memo from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that was intercepted by Axios unveiled that many government officials are looking into these threats being made to the justices, to places of worship, the clerks, and to abortion clinics.

The memo makes reference to many threats that sprung up in the wake of someone, most likely a clerk, who leaked a confidential draft opinion from SCOTUS that seemed to indicate that Roe v. Wade will likely be overturned.

The threats in this memo “are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling,” claimed the obtained memo.

Axios has since reported that the memo tries to make links between the pro-life movement and white supremacy, noting pro-life violence in the past. However, the memo seems to put emphasis on the extremist acts that could be coming from various pro-abortion individuals.

“The mere advocacy of political or social positions, political activism, use of strong rhetoric, or generalized philosophic embrace of violent tactics does not constitute domestic violent extremism or illegal activity and is constitutionally protected,” continued the memo, as reported by Axios.

As stated by a spokesperson from the DHS this past Wednesday morning: “DHS is committed to protecting Americans’ freedom of speech and other civil rights and civil liberties, including the right to peacefully protest. DHS is also committed to working with our partners across every level of government and the private sector to share timely information and intelligence, prevent all forms of violence, and to support law enforcement efforts to keep our communities safe.”

Back on May the 2nd, Politico broke the story that the Supreme Court Justices had voted to take down a massive landmark decision, stating that Justice Samuel Alito had transcribed an opinion draft that is an “unflinching repudiation” of Roe v. Wade.

Said draft majority opinion, which is in no way finalized, stated that Roe v. Wade was egregiously wrong.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” stated Justice Samuel Alito in the draft. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

In the wake of the leak of this draft opinion, many legal experts and other conservative activists have called for SCOTUS to release its decision on Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“Obviously no one can actually force the Chief Justice’s hand,” stated Carrie Severino with Judicial Crisis Network, “but he may want to release the opinion early to avoid exposing the Court to further pressure and intimidation tactics that risk undermining the Court as an institution as a result of the draft opinion hanging out there for what could be months.”
