Sean Penn, Oliver Stone Noam Chomsky, Jesse Jackson, Michael Moore, Jeffry Corbyn, Naomi Campbell, and Danny Glover were all big fans of Hugo Chavez and they pointed out that the United States would be better off being just like Venezuela.
To them, Hugo Chavez was a hero. Now, if you are lucky enough to have the money, you can buy rotting meat to take home to your family to stave off starvation. Shopping is easier because all the shelves are empty. So, how long did it take the oil-rich nation to descend this low? A mere twenty years of socialism. Many today, say they too would like to live in a socialist paradise, right here in the United States.
In the socialist paradise of Venezuela, residents have now resorted to eating actual rotting meat to fend off starvation. Even though the country has vast natural resources, liberal policies have citizens holding their noses and risking grave illness just to put something on the table.
“In a city once called the Saudi Arabia of Venezuela for its vast oil wealth, residents of Maracaibo now line up to buy spoiled meat as refrigerators fail amid nine months of rolling power outages that recently got worse,” the Associated Press reported last week.
“Some people fall ill eating the rotten beef, but at bargain prices, it’s the only way they can afford protein as the country’s crisis hits bottom,” the report continued. “Basic services like running water and electricity have become luxuries.”
“Refrigeration units fell idle and meat began turning. At least four butcher shops have been selling spoiled meat in Las Pulgas, Maracaibo’s central market,” the AP said.
“Of course they eat the meat — thanks to Maduro,” explained Johel Prieto, a Venezuelan butcher. “The food of the poor is rotten food.”
Of course, politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders would tell you that the reason socialism has never worked is that it’s never been done right. I say it’s never been done right because it’s socialism.
