Ted Cruz, a Republican senator from Texas, has come forth and declared Washington D.C. a “border town” after the first wave of migrants from Texas was dropped off there this past Wednesday morning, just a scant few blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
Cruz highlighted the comment via a Twitter post that made use of a report from Fox News.
Washington D.C. is a border town.

“The bus pulled up at approximately 8 a.m. local time, blocks away from the U.S. Capitol building. Fox News has learned that they came from the Del Rio sector in Texas, after coming to the U.S. from Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela,” read the report.
“Upon the bus’s arrival in Washington, D.C., individuals disembarked one by one except for family units who exited together. They checked in with officials and had wristbands they were wearing cut off before being told they could go,” continued Fox.
The very first migrant bus drop from Texas took place almost one week after Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) issued his announcement of new actions in order to send the state’s population of illegal immigrants to Washington in the wake of the Biden administration stating plans to drop support of Title 42. Title 42 was the Trump administration policy that gave the Border Patrol the power to send away migrants along the border as a way to curb the spread of COVID-19. As reported by The Daily Wire:
“With the Biden administration ending Title 42 expulsions in May, Texas will be taking its own unprecedented actions this month to do what no state in America has ever done in the history of this country to better secure our state, as well as our nation,” Abbott said.
One of the additional actions being taken, Abbott said, will be charter buses hired by the state to transport illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C.
“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed with hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C.,” Abbott announced. “We are sending them to the United States capital where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border.”
This response from Abbott has spread along to quite a few other conservative leaders. Andy Biggs, a Republican Rep from Arizona, has made statements encouraging the plan and issued a challenge to Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey to stand with Texas and force the Biden administration to “see reality.”
“The Biden regime and Dems sit comfortably in their DC offices as the border worsens,” he added. “It’s time they see reality. I call on @DougDucey to follow @GregAbbott_TX,” he stated.
.@GregAbbott_TX's decision to transport illegal aliens from Texas to the steps of the U.S. Capitol is warranted.
