This past Thursday morning, Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz went out and jumped in on the “People’s Convoy” of truckers currently at Hagerstown Speedway and hitched a ride in the passenger’s seat of the lead truck as the demonstration rolls into its fourth day of protests.
“Thank you to every trucker who is standing up for freedom for every man, woman, and child in America!” stated Cruz in a post which also sported a video clip of him hitching a ride in the truck at the very front of the convoy.

Cruze used this time to address the truckers and other demonstrators at the speedway just before the start of the days convoy movement.
“God bless The People’s Convoy!” stated the Texan Senator in another Twitter thread.

“The convoy is not [going into D.C.],” stated one driver, Brian Brase, from inside the foremost truck, as reported by The Washington Post. “The convoy’s going to continue its normal operation.”
The demonstration has seen truckers driving in circles around the Capital Beltway as a way to demonstrate their anger with COVID-19 mandates and various other restrictions currently impeding American freedoms.
Groups of demonstrators and supports latched onto the new excitement as Cruz not only spoke to those in attendance but then actually joined the demonstration by jumping right up into the passenger seat of the vehicle up in front.

“Your voice is being heard,” exclaimed Cruz to the crowd as part of his speech, as reported by the Post. “What the men and women want here is for the government to leave you the hell alone … That is the most American sentiment you could imagine.”
This demonstration takes place just two days in the wake of Cruz and fellow GOP Sen. Ron Johnson from Wisconsin taking time to sit down with the leadership of the convoy on Tuesday.

The demonstration reportedly left the state of California on the 23rd of February, and the convoy was joined by hundreds of other people by the end of the convoys trip to the Maryland speedway location. The focus on overly peacful demonstration has been heavily emphasized. As reported by the Daily Wire:
“The message of The People’s Convoy is simple. The last 23 months of the COVID-19 pandemic have been a rough road for all Americans to travel: spiritually, emotionally, physically, and – not least –financially,” the convoy says in a manifesto. “With the advent of the vaccine and workable therapeutic agents, along with the hard work of so many sectors that contributed to declining COVID-19 cases and severity of illness, it is now time to re-open the country.”
“The average American worker needs to be able to end-run the economic hardships of the last two years, and get back to the business of making bread – so they can pay their rents and mortgages and help jumpstart this economy. To that end, it’s time for elected officials to work with the blue collar and white-collar workers of America and restore accountability and liberty – by lifting all mandates and ending the state of emergency – as COVID is well-in-hand now, and Americans need to get back to work in a free and unrestricted manner,” the organizers wrote.
