One 26-year-old social media influencer and OnlyFans model has been hit with a charge of murdering her boyfriend and subsequently been denied bond, as stated in recent court records.
Known online by the name Courtney Tailor, Courtney Clenney was officially arrested and charged this month with the second-degree murder of Christian “Toby” Obumseli, the model’s 27-year-old boyfriend. Obumseli was discovered dead with multiple stab wounds inside of a luxury Miami condo back on the 3rd of April.
While speaking in a Miami courtroom in front of Judge Jacqueline Woodward this past Saturday morning, Frank Prieto, the attorney for Clenney, stated that there was just not enough concrete evidence for his client to be pinned with a charge of murder and called for Clenney to be let go on bail pending trial, as reported by Fox News.
“At best it’s manslaughter,” expressed Prieto to Judge Woodward.
“Miss Clenney, your attorneys are here, and they’re fighting hard for you, but at this time, I’m not really the judge who should be making these decisions,” explained the judge to those in the courtroom. “It should be a judge who knows a little bit more about your case.”
In the wake of the incident, the legal team for the model has made the claim that Clenney was only acting in self-defense and had been choked the night that Obumseli had died.
“Obumseli attacked her and choked her that evening; Courtney had no choice but to meet force with force,” explained Prieto.
Clenney was also reportedly heard in the 911 call from the night of the incident repeatedly mumbling, “I’m so sorry, baby,” while Obumseli stated he felt like he was dying and was losing all feeling in his extremities.
“I’m completely shocked, especially since we were cooperating with the investigation and offered to voluntarily surrender her if she were charged,” stated Prieto to the Miami Herald in the wake of his client’s arrest. “We look forward to clearing her name in court.”
Obumseli’s family has claimed that Clenney could not have been acting in self-defense, and has outright denied all allegations that the 27-year-old had been violent with his girlfriend of two years.
“We have no cause to believe that this was a case of self-defense,” explained Obumseli’s cousin, Karen Egbuna. “Toby was raised by a very strong family with strong morals, strong values, he does not come from that.”
The lawyer representing the Obumseli family, Larry Handfield, has made the claim that the delay surrounding Clenney’s arrest is entirely about race.
“We believe it is white privilege, because any other person would’ve been arrested,” exclaimed Handfield to Rolling Stone back in April.
