The federal government is exerting pressure on Texas’ El Paso to stop the city from declaring a state of emergency over the surge of illegal immigrants.
During a conversation with a member of El Paso’s city council, Democratic Mayor Oscar Leeser allegedly claimed that he had been discouraged from declaring a state of emergency by the White House.
Councilwoman Claudia Rodriguez reportedly claimed, “He told me the White House advised him not to.”
In light of the present migrant crisis creating havoc on the southwest border, a new data dashboard on migrants has been established in El Paso, offering a glimpse into the staggering numbers the border city is experiencing.
The city’s Migrant Situational Awareness Dashboard, which can be seen on its website, displays the shocking numbers of migrants who have been intercepted and released into the area.
Information gathered throughout the summer reveals that weekly community releases have surged from 1,700 to roughly 6,800 in the past week. CBP now has over 4,500 migrants in detention, up from less than 3,000 only a few weeks earlier.
While over 900 starving migrants are being fed each day, statistics show that over 1,000 are being released into the area each day.
