The Republicans are enjoying watching the drama play out in the House as Nancy Pelosi tries once again to become Speaker of the House. In the end, Pelosi will win out as she is one by one bribing people to leave the opposition and to join her team.
Pelosi becoming Speaker could be a boon for Republicans because she is much like Hillary, in that both are hated by factions on their own side. Pelosi will be a huge issue in 2020. The Democrats are promising endless investigations into Donald Trump. Pelosi will receive the blame and nimrods like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are bound to sow dissension into the party.
Ocasio-Cortez wants to primary many sitting members of the House in 2020. The wounds that the winner of the primaries endure will carry over into the general elections and video of those wounds being inflicted by a member of their own party will be prominent in campaign ads. On top of that, the Democrats cannot successfully pass any of the highly progressive bills that are bound to come out, not to mention the numerous attempts to impeach President Trump.
They will be in deep trouble in 2020 unless Republicans join with the Democrats in an act of appeasement, which never works.
After dealing with their own political infighting a few years ago, House Republicans are kicking up their feet and watching Democrats scrap it out for who will lead the party when it takes control of the lower chamber in January.
A number of rank-and-file Democrats – tired of the entrenched leadership under Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. – are trying to make sure she doesn’t reclaim the role of House Speaker, despite her role in helping the party take back the House for the first time since 2010. This internal conflict may be dismaying for Democrats hoping for a unified party to fight the Trump administration, but it has the GOP jumping for joy.
“For those asking, Moulton is NOT on our payroll,” National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) spokesman Matt Gorman tweeted last week, in reference to Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., one of the most vocal Pelosi critics.
