A $250 million lawsuit has been brought against Kanye West by George Floyd’s daughter’s mother. She claims West’s recent statements, in which he seemed to link Floyd’s death to fentanyl and not police violence, have “retraumatized” her.
Lawyers for Roxie Washington have accused Kanye West of “harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress,” according to the letter acquired by Yahoo Entertainment. Since the law does not allow for defamation of the dead, it is unclear how West’s comments might be considered defamatory.
The best interests of the kid must be considered first. An attorney representing George Floyd, Nuru Witherspoon, argued that Kanye West’s statements about Floyd’s daughter were retraumatizing her and making the world a dangerous and unhealthy place for her.
Reports indicate that “business partners” and “associates” of West’s will also be targeted in the case.
If the case has already been filed in court or if this disclosure attempts to coerce West into a settlement, there are few details.
West made the remarks above during a recent episode of the “Drink Champs” podcast.
They administered fentanyl to Floyd, and it knocked him out. West remarked, “If you look closely, you’ll see that the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck.”
This week, lawyers representing Gianna Floyd, George Floyd’s daughter, and Floyd’s mother issued West a cease-and-desist letter, asking that he refrain from making further public statements on Floyd’s passing.
Floyd’s death was declared a murder by the medical examiner. Other “serious” problems, such as hypertensive heart disease, fentanyl intoxication, and methamphetamine usage, were identified in the postmortem report.
Breitbart News stated that in 2020, Kanye West gave two million dollars to help the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbrery, and Breonna Taylor. Floyd’s daughter can go to college because of the education fund.
