Rising Republican Blake Masters criticized his Democratic opponent in Arizona’s U.S. Senate election, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), in an interview on Sirius XM’s Breitbart News on Saturday, focusing on Kelly’s lack of action on border security. Department of Homeland Security data shows that in February alone, almost 227,000 illegal migrants were apprehended at the southern border.
In response to Matthew Boyle’s inquiry on the extraordinary amount of migrants crossing the border in September, Masters accused Kelly, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of “caus[ing] the crisis.”
Were they surprised by the results when they threw open the border and forbade our brave border patrol agents and ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] officials from deporting anyone? They welcomed and supported unlawfully present individuals. Yes, please come inside. Furthermore, we have no intention of kicking you to the curb. We are prepared to pay for your travel, housing, and transportation costs in the form of money, as well as provide you with transportation ourselves by means of hotel rooms, bus tickets, and plane tickets. Masters admitted that the problem lay with “them.”
This is the highest monthly sum ever recorded for the month of September. He added that the 2.4 million illegals who were apprehended by ICE last year were not deported, making this the highest yearly number in the agency’s history. Another 600,000 attempts to flee have been documented. In which locations may one find the hidden exits? More than three million undocumented people entered the United States in the past year thanks to Joe Biden and Mark Kelly’s initiatives. No illegal immigrants, in my opinion, are acceptable. My opponent, Mark Kelly, argues that admitting three million illegal immigrants annually is reasonable. Oh my my, this is really nuts. We call them “open border” policies. What the law forbids, they do not. That behavior must end immediately. They should all be dismissed for their incompetence in protecting the southern border.
Boyle then pressed the Trump-backed candidate on the effects of the significant rise in immigration under the Biden administration on the cornerstones of American civilization including public education, healthcare, and the economy. What this would mean for crime rates in the United States was something Boyle was thinking about.
It’s nearly overwhelming to figure out where to begin,” Masters responded. You mentioned the hospital and you’re correct, it’s becoming busier there, especially in the emergency rooms and other healthcare services. You and I, as taxpaying residents of the United States, will be on the hook for the expense of treating these folks in the ER if they do not have insurance. The schools are indeed crowded, but it’s important to keep in mind that these people aren’t all, or even primarily, coming from Mexico. There are individuals from 140 different nations there, so not everyone speaks English or Spanish. These countries range from Yemen and Bangladesh to the People’s Republic of Georgia. When a class of thirty or forty pupils arrives speaking a dozen different languages, how should teachers respond? To put it bluntly, that’s absurd.
He remarked, “The entire border zone is a vast crime zone.” The cartels are responsible for all day-to-day business. A humanitarian perspective is obvious here. Cartels use unimaginable brutality against kidnapped women and children in their approach to selling them into trafficking. These guys are probably under indentured servitude, a kind of contemporary slavery. Since 2019, the homicide rate in Phoenix has increased by 50%, while in Tucson it has increased by 87%. The lawlessness along the southern border is an issue regardless of whether or not the perpetrators are illegal immigrants. If the government isn’t strictly enforcing the law, then people will think, “Hey, we can get away with anything, right?” As time goes on, less severe crimes like assault and robbery become more serious ones like kidnapping and murder.
The Republican, who was called one of the GOP’s “brightest lights” by former VP Mike Pence, also made the point that illegal immigrants would have to pay for their own social services while veterans and service members would not.
It’s also a burden on the government’s budget to provide cash and mobile phones to new entrants and enroll them in welfare programs. It puts pressure on the system, as Masters phrased it. And it breaks my heart because it’s not uncommon to pass by a public park in the United States and find veterans who have served our nation in dangerous environments suffering, homeless, and in need of mental health care that they are not receiving. These people are the thread that holds the country together. They died valiantly defending our country, but we haven’t treated their sacrifice with the same honor we have the three million illegal immigrants who have entered the country in recent years. We have the wrong priorities, and I won’t stop fighting until our borders are secure. It’s absurd that Joe Biden and Mark Kelly have allowed this to happen. Due to them, every county in the US is now technically a border county.
